B-Day Listening Party

Wed's my B-Day! Yay! :) I normally don't think much about it since every year I wind up getting older, but THIS year my birthday comes 2 weeks before the official release of the new album AFropolitan. SO, we're asking you all to get involved in helping me give the gift of music to y'all.  The album won't be available for sale 'til Oct 11, but we're trying to give away as many free downloads as possible before that.

Below is the email we just sent to our friends & fam.  Join us Wed from 12-12:30pm for a LIVE tweet up, where I'll answer questions about the music, the adventures of the last year & whatever else you want to know that I can bear to reveal in public. ;) See the info below & "see" you Wednesday!

Wed 9/28 A Virtual Listening Party for DNA's Birthday

Peace fam,

With DNA’s birthday coming up this Wednesday the 28th we asked him a simple question: What is your birthday wish?

He had a simple answer. “I wish that everyone and their mother, brother and cousins could hear AFropolitan!”

To make it all work we need some help from you so here’s the plan:

Starting right now we want you to invite as many people as you possibly can to check out the music on Then on Wednesday at noon ET we will have a LIVE tweet up where people can ask whatever they want about AFropolitan to DNA on twitter (@ashong).  All they have to do is start their tweet with @ashong and include the hashtag #AFropolitan.  If people want to leave comments or ask questions in advance they can do so on twitter or on our FaceBook page (

We need all of our fam to post on FaceBook and tweet about the listening party. Here are a couple sample posts:

Listen Up! Soulfege is having a virtual listening party for Derrick N. Ashong’s Birthday. Check out the music at and leave comments on Join the LIVE tweet up with @ashong on twitter, Wed 9/28 at noon ET.
